I’ve been struggling with my blog posts lately. I’ve wanted to write about priorities. That’s where I am in this journey right now. There’s just too much to say in one post, so I’m going to do a series.
When you get rid of all the frivolous things in your life it becomes clear that you’ve been spending too much time chasing things that weren’t important. When I get to the end of my life, I don’t want to look back and have regrets about the way I spent my time. The biggest regret I don’t want to have is that I didn’t put God first!
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36
To me, putting God first means:
- making sure I’ve obeyed the Biblical plan of salvation (Acts 2:38).
- reading and applying God’s word to my life.
- spending time in prayer and listening for His voice.
- allowing God to shape me into what He wants me to be.
- making His mission, my mission: showing love and helping others find Him.
This list could go on, but you get the point. The truth is that Jesus is calling us to a higher level of living! The benefits of putting Him first flows to every single area of our lives! Any need we have can be met by putting God first.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
When I put God first my marriage is better, I’m a better mother, and even my finances are blessed. Because of putting God first, I’ve been surrounded by like-minded people through my church that will never know how much they bless me from week to week!
We can get so distracted by the cares of this life that we forget about what is truly important! I hope this post helps to remind someone to make your top priority your relationship with God. There’s nothing in this life that will bring more fulfillment or joy.
I would love to hear your thoughts! Don’t forget to leave a comment below!
