There’s a lot of talk in today’s culture about being the “best version” of you. It’s true that by changing some of our habits and living with discipline we can live a better life. By making better choices and pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zone we can discover a new potential within ourselves. However, these things can only take us so far.
The best version of us is when we are led by God’s spirit. “…Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6
By our own abilities we can never truly become the best version of ourselves. God is calling us deeper to a place where we aren’t in control and to a place where “pushing our limits” is defined by our ability to trust Him.
The best version of us will be the result of putting ourselves in a position to hear God’s voice and obey His call.
The best version of us will ultimately be attained when we hear Him say “Well done.”
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:36-37
